About the Team Mural is building collaborative infrastructure where people and intelligent systems work together in real time. The Design and Research team focuses on shaping how humans and AI co-create within shared visual canvases, moving from ideas to structured outcomes with shared context. Your Mission You'll define AI-native features at the platform level, designing systems where users and agents collaborate on data-connected visual canvases. This role emphasizes designing behaviors, orchestration, and interaction models for agents that think, act, and adapt to the needs of teams large and small — rather than bolting on AI features as an afterthought. Success means transforming ambiguous, emerging capabilities into clear, usable systems that feel natural inside a visual workspace. What You'll Do Player Responsibilities (Individual Contributor) - Use code as primary design tool to explore agentic workflows and interactions - Rapidly prototype concepts using vibe coding and AI-native tools to simulate real interactions - Define agent behaviors, communication patterns, and actions across workflow moments - Partner with engineering to evolve prototypes into scalable implementations - Create interaction models for human-agent and multi-agent collaboration - Design platform-level AI components and primitives - Translate complex system behavior into usable experiences that balance visibility, control, and autonomy - Use Figma and other tools for refinement and communication, not as a starting point Coach Responsibilities (Practice Leadership) - Model design excellence and mentor peers in visual craft and systems design - Lead how the team thinks about AI not as features, but as systems with behavior and responsibility - Partner with design systems, research, and engineering teams - Influence product strategy through design-led exploration - Champion accessibility, internationalization, and emotional engagement Hybrid Responsibilities - Reframe problems and connect across product areas - Lead workshops and design sprints - Define success metrics and evaluate impact - Advocate for design's role in shaping product vision What You'll Bring Required Experience - 10+ years in product design focusing on complex desktop applications (enterprise or consumer) - Familiarity with AI-assisted or agent-based experiences, including ambiguity around roles and autonomy - High-quality design systems and scale experience - Exceptional visual craft (clarity, spacing, motion, interaction polish) - Strong systems thinking and understanding of how design decisions cascade - Experience designing for both enterprise and consumer audiences - Deep empathy for diverse, global users with accessibility and personalization expertise - Comfort operating in undefined spaces where patterns do not yet exist - Cross-functional collaboration experience Nice-to-Have - Canvas-based or spatial interface experience - Multi-agent systems, orchestration, or workflow automation background - Designing with structured and unstructured data - Knowledge of memory, context windows, tool use, and agent reasoning - History building 0→1 products or platform capabilities Compensation - Base salary: $156,000 - $195,000 USD annually - Bonus and benefits included - Location: United States Remote
